Jay Freeman (aka Saurik), the developer of Cydia, the installer app for jailbreak iPhone apps has uploaded a new version of APT that has an optimized cache generator, which should greatly improve Cydia performance.

According to Saurik, the update has improved the performance by 7x.

Computerworld is reporting that Apple is looking to bring iPhone OS to new devices beyond iPhone, iPod Touch and recently launched iPad based on a Apple Job listing posted last week.

Apple is looking for "Engineering Manager (Platform Bring-Up)" and as per the job listing, requires the employee to lead a team of engineers working with hardware and "custom silicon" teams to bring-up new platforms and prototypes.

We had heard rumors that Apple might replace Google search with Bing or might be building its own search engine, but Sillicon Valley Insider had reported that it was unlikely as Apple is getting over $100 million a year from Google for the iPhone Search deal.

However, that doesn’t seem to have stopped the speculations. MacRumors is reporting that both Google and Microsoft are competing for the iPhone search deal.
